# Document Verification

VIDA Document Verification employs AI and computer vision models to ensure the authenticity of an ID card. This process includes image quality evaluation, which assesses blurriness, lighting, card orientation, and type to ensure the document meets necessary standards for further checks. AI simplifies the verification process by analyzing essential features such as card landmarks and checking for signs of spoofing to determine if the document has been altered.

Benefits of robust document verification include preventing significant financial losses due to fraud and cyberattacks, reducing high costs associated with fraud mitigation and recovery, and maintaining user trust by minimizing transaction abandonment rates. Effective document verification thus enhances security, builds trust, and supports efficient business operations.

## Key Aspects of Document Verification

### Image Quality Checks

Before performing document verification, the system conducts image quality checks to ensure the image meets the necessary requirements for accurate verification. This process includes verifying the image size and resolution, ensuring the KTP object dimension is at least 300 x 400 pixels, and confirming that the KTP object appears in the image. Additionally, the system checks for image quality issues such as blurriness and lighting.

### Spoof and Forgery Checks

To ensure the document has not been forged, photocopied, or captured previously, the service performs additional checks. This includes evaluating the document for signs of spoofing or forgery, such as:

* Verifying the uniqueness and authenticity of the document’s intrinsic landmarks
* Detecting any inconsistencies or anomalies that suggest tampering or duplication

These measures help to further validate the integrity of the document and reduce the risk of fraud.

### Landmark Checks

The scores indicate that the corresponding landmark is intact and perceptible, suggesting the document's authenticity. Conversely, the scores also may point to potential fraud, with some common causes being:

* Worn-out documents
* Extreme illumination conditions
* Low resolution

Additionally, the service checks for intrinsic landmarks of the document. If these intrinsic landmarks exist and are visible, it further confirms the document's authenticity.
