# Smart KYC (Fraud API)

Welcome to the VIDA Fraud Prevention API documentation. As fraud tactics grow more sophisticated, identity verification must go beyond traditional e-KYC.&#x20;

While e-KYC remains a familiar and essential concept for many clients, VIDA’s Fraud Prevention API builds upon it by incorporating dynamic, AI-driven fraud detection. Unlike standard KYC APIs that return a simple pass/fail result, VIDA provides contextual risk insights that enable flexible, risk-based verification flows tailored to each transaction. The API delivers a field-level risk evaluation, helping partners make informed decisions without duplicating or replacing national identity database validations.

As a licensed Certificate Authority (PsrE) in Indonesia, VIDA applies advanced AI and proprietary machine learning to deliver a robust, standards-aligned fraud risk assessment suite. This allows not just identity verification, but proactive fraud prevention.

### Enhanced Identity Verification Features

**1. Identity Assurance Level (IAL) Classification**\
The API introduces Identity Assurance Levels (IAL) to help businesses align identity verification depth with use case sensitivity:

* **IAL2, with cert. level 2 and description**: Certificate with long term validity is issued and its utilization is for digital signature and digital identity purpose in VIDA system.
  * Only for full demographic and biometric assessment & Multistage Full Verification.
* **IAL2, with cert. level 2 and description**: Certificate with long term validity is issued and its utilization is bound to the certificate requesting client.
  * Only for partial verification check with VIDA.

**2. Modular, Partial Check Support**\
Businesses can customize their verification flows using a range of modules:

* **Biometrics**: Enables face matching and spoof detection using either active gestures or passive liveness.
* **Demographic**: Standard PII checks with optional extended attributes to support stronger verification decisions.
* **Income & Document Verification**: Available as optional add-ons via separate APIs to enhance your verification flow by validating income data and confirming document authenticity.

**3. Field-level Risk Assessment**\
VIDA’s internal fraud evaluation engine analyzes biometric, behavioral, and document-based signals to detect potential anomalies such as deepfakes, spoofing, and identity manipulation. Rather than assigning a single fraud score, the system performs a multi-factor risk assessment across individual input fields. These assessments support verification outcomes and enable partners to make informed decisions, while complementing national identity database checks.

**4. Manual Review Services**\
VIDA’s Post-Correction Services identify and resolve non-fraud mismatches such as updated appearances or minor name variations that can trigger false rejections. By intelligently validating these edge cases, the service helps reduce user drop-offs and improve verification outcomes.

## Biometric Fraud Mitigation

The biometric verification process requires the partner to send the user details, including Mobile Number, Government ID, ID Type,  Consent Given, and the Selfie, which are then sent alongside the Partner Transaction ID to VIDAs API for processing.

#### **a. Image Quality Evaluation**

VIDAs analyses the quality of the submitted selfie photo, considering factors like blurriness, underexposure, and overexposure. The VIDA API provides the result with the score across each quality check parameters.

#### **b. Liveness Check**

VIDAs undertakes a thorough examination of the submitted selfie photo, evaluating it against predetermined criteria. This evaluation includes assessing the selfie photo match, image liveness, with each parameter assigned a corresponding score.&#x20;

This method improves your conversion by having less friction in the capture experience and ensures that the person undergoing verification is physically present during the process and not using a pre-recorded image or video.

#### **c. Image Manipulation Check**

Image manipulation detection is an additional layer of check to identify morphed patterns commonly found in photoshopped images, swapped selfies, and deep fakes. Combined with current liveness detection, VIDA aims to increase the chance of detecting, mitigating, and minimising any face morph or face wrap occurrence, especially one that’s generated by deep fake technology. Upon successful assessment, VIDAs determines the overall fraud assessment status and assigns an appropriate authentication level, and issues a certificate ID for the user.

## Demographic Verification

VIDA’s demographic verification module helps validate a user’s identity by cross-checking submitted personal information against trusted data sources. This process reduces the risk of mismatches, supports regulatory compliance, and enhances decision-making for services that rely on identity and eligibility verification.

#### **a. Demographic Information Validation**

User data such as full name, national ID number, date of birth, and place of birth is evaluated for accuracy and consistency. VIDA compares these details against verified reference data from trusted sources to identify potential discrepancies.

#### **b. Income Evaluation (optional add-on)**

When required, VIDA can also validate reported income using authoritative financial data sources. This assessment supports eligibility decisions in scenarios such as credit evaluation, lending, and insurance underwriting.

#### **c. Document Verification (optional add-on)**

VIDA verifies the authenticity and liveness of uploaded ID documents to detect tampering, forgeries, or reused document images. This additional layer helps prevent document spoofing and strengthens confidence in the claimed identity.

To initiate demographic verification, partners submit user inputs including government ID, ID type, full name, date and place of birth, mobile number, consent confirmation, and a transaction ID via VIDA’s API.
