# Error Codes

### Understanding Error Sources

Errors in VIDA originate from two layers:

SDK errors are raised locally on the device — network issues, permission problems, SDK state, and so on. These do **not** include an HTTP status code because no HTTP call was made or the SDK intercepted the issue before reaching the server.

Backend errors are returned from VIDA's API in the response body and always include an HTTP status code.

### KYC - SDK Error

5014–5401 are VIDA backend errors returned during SDK processing. They appear in the errors\[] array of the SDK response and are also surfaced via the onError(errorCode, errorMessage, response) callback on both Android and iOS.

Log these codes on your backend to identify patterns in document quality issues — e.g. high rates of 5202 may indicate a lighting problem in a specific geographic region.
